Fluffy, creamy, and decadent, this sweet cream cheese dip comes together in less than 5 minutes and tastes delicious. It makes a no-bake dessert that pairs wonderfully with fresh fruit, cookies and cakes.

It’s also economical and ridiculously easy to make!

This is a sweet treat we all love in my household. It’s a great basic recipe to have on hand, absolutely perfect to elevate an ordinary bowl of berries or cookies into a special presentation in no time.

It’s elegant enough for a dinner party, but it’s so simple that you can put it together on any day of the week, a luscious go-to dessert for impromptu sugar cravings.

But what I also like about this sweet cream cheese recipe is that it’s so versatile, it keeps well for days, and there are no complicated ingredients.

Just simple, convenient, inexpensive ones.

Because despite the fancy swirls and elegant appearance, this sweet creamy dip really is just a simple whipped cream cheese made with sugar and flavoured with vanilla.

Crazy simple, right?

What I’m really trying to say is that this sweet cream cheese tastes SO darn good that you’ll be making it again and again!

How to make sweet cream cheese

(Note: this is a quick description, the full recipe is at the bottom of the page)

  • Sift the powdered sugar to remove lumps.
  • Place all the ingredients in a large bowl.

  • Beat with an electric hand mixer until fluffy and ultra smooth. Alternatively, you can blend all the ingredients using a food processor, it works just fine.
  • Ready to serve and devour!

No hand mixer? Using an electric hand mixer or food processor speeds up the process and gives the best result, but you’re welcome to use a balloon whisk. It obviously takes longer and requires more work.

Recipe notes

As mentioned the recipe use just a handful of ingredients. Here’s what’s in it:

Cream cheese: full fat cream cheese lends to a richer texture and more flavor. I used Philadelphia.

Powdered sugar (or confectioners’ sugar): it’s refined sugar that have been finely ground into a powdery form. It dissolves much more smoothly and quickly than granulated sugar, and produces a smooth consistency.

Vanilla extract: a touch of vanilla deepens the flavor and it works so well especially if you plan to serve this creamy dip with fresh berries or chocolate cakes. But you can use half teaspoon of lemon or orange zest instead of vanilla extract.

Milk: I use only 1 tablespoon of milk to loose the cream, but it’s optional and you can omit it.

Salt: just a pinch to enhance the sweet flavor.

What to serve with sweet cream cheese

What not to serve it with!?! This sweet, indulgent cream cheese is delicious served with fresh berries or summer fruits like peaches or apricots. But cakes, tarts, and steamed puddings are also amazing to serve it with.

It complements beautifully this plain yogurt cake and moist orange cake. Also these strawberry bread, zucchini bread and apple cake are great served with a dollop of this sweet cream cheese.

Let’s not forget this is also one of the cream cheese dips for crackers and pretzels, just to name more delicious options! : )

How to serve it

Serve this velvety sweet treat in a small bowl and Swirl the top with the back of a dessert spoon to make it more alluring. You can serve it chilled in summer, especially with fresh fruit, or at room temperature – even slightly warm – with cakes or steamed puddings.

You can make it ahead of time!

This sweet cream cheese dip keeps well refrigerated in an airtight container for about 5 days. That means you can make it ahead.
I don’t recommend freezing it.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 grams) full-fat cream cheese (I used Philadelphia)
  • ½ cup (60 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Sift the sugar: place a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl, add the powdered sugar into the sieve and gently tap the side until all of the sugar dusts into the bowl and it's completely sifted. You want to remove lumps.
  • Whip all the ingredients: place all the ingredients into a large bowl. Beat with an electric hand mixer on a low speed until the sugar is incorporated into the mix, then increase the speed and beat for at least 1 minute or until the cream cheese looks fluffy and ultra creamy. You can also use a ballon whisk, but you need to beat vigorously and it takes longer.
  • Serve: use a spatula to scrape the sweet cream cheese out of the mixing bowl and pour it into a small bowl. Make a few fancy swirls on top using the back of a dessert spoon and serve with fresh berries, summer fruit, cookies, cakes and more. Enjoy!
